Do I Need A UV or LED Lamp?

If you want salon-looking gel nails, you will need a UV or LED curing lamp to cure gel polish. We recommend the Mylee Full Works Complete Gel Nail Polish Kit which includes a high-performance LED lamp. For best results, use Mylee gel nail polishes as these will give you up to three-weeks chip-free wear when cured under LED or UV.

How To Do Nails At Home Step By Step

If you've never attempted to do your own nails at home or need a quick refresh, our quick step-by-step guide to doing your nails at home will give you perfect at-home nails every time!

Step 1: Before you embark on your mani, you need to define the shape by filing the free edge of your nails! The most common nail shapes are square, round and oval. Our gels last between 2-3 weeks, so make sure the free edge is even in length. 

Step 2: To make room for your manicure, gently push back your cuticles with an orange stick.

Step 3: Buff the nail surface to remove any shine - you're trying to etch your nails to create some texture. Our Mylee White Nail Buffer or a Nail File is perfect for this task!

Step 4: Prepare your nails using Mylee Prep & Wipe to cleanse and dehydrate the nail bed to remove any dust or oils which affect adhesion. Prep & Wipe is a dual-purpose product that sanitises the nail plate whilst preparing the surface for a long-lasting polish adhesion.

Step 5: Apply a Mylee Base Coat. Make sure the foundation coat is applied as flat as possible to the edges of your nails without coming into contact with the cuticles. A good base is important if you want a mani that lasts!

Step 6: Cure your nails under a Mylee LED Lamp which takes around 30 seconds to cure, while with a UV Lamp it takes about 120 seconds.

Step 7: Now it's time to apply a thin layer of polish. Cure then repeat this process for the second coat.
