Are you a fan of gel polish but have some concerns about its safety? Well, we totally get it.
At Mylee, we want to make sure that you have all the information you need to feel confident and fabulous while using our products.
First off, let us put your mind at ease. We sell over 1 million bottles of gel polish every year, and allergic reactions to our products are in the minority.
In fact, all of our products undergo rigorous assessment including the safety, toxicology and history of use of all ingredients, in the UK by an external 3rd party compliance official before being sold to ensure they are safe for use when used in normal &/or reasonably foreseeable conditions of use.
All of our ingredients are clearly listed on our website so you can be sure you're not allergic to any of them. Significantly, Mylee is now also a HEMA-free brand.
Besides allergies, let's talk about how to apply our gel polish safely. We've got some tips from our favourite nail tech to the stars, Tinu Bello, that will help you achieve the perfect mani safely.
First things first, if the skin around your nails or cuticles is damaged or inflamed, don't start applying the polish.
Give your skin time to heal before you dive into your mani. And, when you're prepping your nails and cuticles, be gentle!
Avoid over-filing your natural nail plate and only remove the white, dead skin around your cuticles. Trust us, you don't want to damage live tissue and risk getting an infection.
Another crucial tip is to avoid getting any product on your skin when you're applying the polish. If you do happen to get some on your skin, don't worry!
Just use an angled brush to wipe it away. And, make sure to use a separate lint-free wipe for each finger when you're wiping off the tacky layer at the end of your mani.
It’s also important that you don’t cure any polish onto your skin as the chemicals can cause irritation.
On the topic of curing and lamps – make sure to cure your product for the recommended amount of time and use our Mylee lamp with our Mylee products for the best results.
Furthermore, it’s useful to know that the wattage of a lamp only measures the amount of electricity it draws in, not how effectively it uses that power.
So, you can actually achieve a better cure with a lower-watt lamp, depending on other factors like bulb efficiency and location.
Our Mylee Pro LED lamp only uses 18 watts but converts that into 20 mW/cm2 UV light intensity, making it super energy efficient.
So, there you have it! Follow these tips and the guide in the video above, and you'll be on your way to a perfect, long-lasting mani.
And, when you're all done, treat yourself to a little at-home spa experience with some hydrating nail oil and moisturiser.
